Originally released in 1997, the Mike Vallely Lightning Bolt symbolizes the second and most enduring act of Vallelys long career: his desire, dedication, and determination to positively promote skateboarding.

Throughout the mid-to-late 90s and into the 2000s, as the popularity of skateboarding grew, Mike toured relentlessly. From parking lots to skate shops, from backyard ramps to skate parks, from city streets to shopping mallsVallelys passion and drive to welcome young people all over the world into skateboarding, and to share all that he had learned goes unmatched. His never give up message of individuality and self-expression is woven into the very fabric of the sport. Through it all, the Lightning Bolt has become as iconic and as meaningful to skateboarding and skateboarders as Vallelys Elephant graphic from the 80s.
